Andrey Reshetin

The artistic directort Andrey Reshetin (violin) graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov Saint Petersburg State Conservatory and the specialized music school of the Conservatory (in the class of Aron Knaifel). He received formation at the studio of the artist and philosopher AXL (Boris Akselrod), where in 1982 he began to play early music together with Felix Ravdonikas the founder of historical performance in Russia. From 1987 to 1992 he was a member of the legendary band Akvarium. From 1984 to 1987 acted in Alexandre Sokurov’s film “Mournful Unconcern”. From 1990 he played the first violin in the ensemble Musica Petropolitana with whom he won the first prize of the Van Vassenaer competition in 1993. He studied baroque violin under the direction of Maria Leonhardt. In 1998 together Marc de Mauny and Elizabeth White he set up the International EARLYMUSIC Festival in St Petersburg and has been the permanent artistic director of the Festival. In 2002 he founded the ensemble the Soloists of Catherine the Great and the orchestra of Catherine the Great.
